Day 21: Fort Augustus- Dingwall
“The long and winding road”
Nothing like starting the day with 5 miles of gruelling uphill cycling. The bonus was seeing the long winding road down to Inverness.
A day of technical hitches did not detract from the beauty of a caffeine deprived journey. Cobbled together lunch on the high moors by a little lochan. Long wait for dessert and much needed coffee at caravan coffee stop. The Troggs made a guest appearance and again on our arrival in to Inverness. Second wonderful bike mechanic came to our assistance and advised on route into Dingwall. Day ended with fish suppers and fun in good value accommodation. Laughing and sleeping ended the day.

Day 22 Dingwall- Lairg
“Bright side of the road”
Brief basic breakfast with top tips on route from elderly Highland Laddie. Followed the Cromarty Firth in sparkling sunshine. Coffee stop at Station Hotel Alness which coincided with toddlers storytelling group.
Up up and away in variable weather to reach viewpoint of Dornoch bridge. Lunch interrupted by Bob the dog 🐶 demonstrating his party trick. Group unexpectedly split but reconnected five miles later after spending time negotiating treacherous iron steps and bridge. Destination was Lairg and the allusive Newsagent flat.
Headline news…. Super supper of leftovers, but boiler busted, dryer not trusted……. and so on. Not the best overnight accommodation we have had!
