Day 17-18

Day 17: Abington – Glasgow

Big sky theme continued over the moors. Wind farms everywhere. Up and over the hills into Scotland’s industrial belt and the high rise flats of Glasgow in the distance. Some challenging cycling with busy roads until we reached the Clyde walkway which took us all the way to the city centre.

A trip to the friendliest cycle shop in Scotland with the lovely Joe. Janis now the proud owner of a much more robust set of tyres.

Guest appearances from Edward and Dervla at Glasgow hotel was a huge boost.

Big day, big miles for the girls tomorrow. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

Day 18: Glasgow- Crianlarich

“We’ll take the high road and you’ll take the low road”

Boys and girls splitting today.

Crack of dawn departure for the girls. Marathon cycle out of Glasgow to Aberfoyle, Callander, Strathyre and over the old railway path and on down to Crianlarich. Ever changing landscape, mountains, locks, spectacular views.

Very basic, ultra friendly youth hostel was our overnight accommodation. Washing done, hurray! Carry out pizza and a bottle of sauvignon blanc …. what more could we wish for? 70 plus miles today ….. amazing!
