Day 11: Northwich to Preston
On leaving our bed and breakfast in fabulous weather we came across beautiful thatched cottages at Great Budsworth. Travelled through Sankey park on the outskirts of Preston for miles. Seemed to go on forever. Very impressive. The valley follows the course of the Sankey brook and the now disused Sankey canal which was Englands first modern canal. Lunch was at the Wigan Top lock which involved a significant climb. Endlessly long canal path to guide us into the river Ribble and on to our accommodation for the night.
Day 12: Preston – Kirkby Lonsdale
Two rendezvous’s with close friends today. The first en-route with Jim and Alison. The second in snug hotel room in Kirkby Lonsdale with Michael and Lesley. A real boost to morale.
Beautiful countryside and journey but in horrendous rain.
Bus stop buffet lunch and witches warnings.🧙🏻♀️🧙🏻♀️
